Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Dr. Fletcher always dreamed of working in the film and movie industry. His great-uncle, Ossie Davis—an acclaimed actor who starred in Spike Lee’s School Daze—was a major inspiration in his life. That influence led Dr. Fletcher to attend Morehouse College, a historically Black college in Atlanta, Georgia, where he hoped to pursue a career in film.

However, upon arriving at Morehouse, Dr. Fletcher discovered that the college did not offer a major in film or movie production. As a result, he decided to major in English instead. During his time in college, Dr. Fletcher continued to search for his true purpose. He recalls praying for guidance, asking God to reveal the path he was meant to follow. Toward the end of his college career, that prayer was answered—he felt called to pursue medicine.

In 2002, Dr. Fletcher left Atlanta to attend medical school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While studying medicine, he developed a deep passion for surgery after learning about Dr. Ben Carson, the pioneering neurosurgeon who successfully separated conjoined twins. Inspired by Carson’s groundbreaking work, Dr. Fletcher dedicated himself to mastering surgery.

Now, after twelve years in the field, Dr. Fletcher runs his own medical practice and performs four to five surgeries a day on some days. He describes the surgical process as almost instinctive—once he begins, his hands seem to take over naturally. Having his own practice means a great deal to him, not only because it represents his professional success, but also because it is something he hopes to pass down to his son.

Dr. Fletcher fondly remembers the early days of his practice. With only a small staff, he recalls the excitement of receiving his first patient—a moment he describes as both humbling and surreal. Beyond his medical career, Dr. Fletcher has continued to integrate his first passion, film, with his desire to educate others. Together with his brother, he created an educational brand called Dr. NoseBetter, a cartoon series that uses old-school hip-hop songs to teach healthcare topics in a fun and engaging way.

Looking ahead, Dr. Fletcher plans to merge his love of film and medicine once again by producing a documentary about hospitals that are quietly closing in low-income communities. His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, and vision. What began as a dream to make movies evolved into a purpose-driven life of healing and giving back to the community.
