Writer, Film Maker , Producer, and a Charlotte, NC legend. Born and raised in Charlotte, Sandy’s opportunity to start his own magazine “fell to his feet.” During the 90s and the early 2000s, Sandy had friends that were serving time in the federal prison. He would stay in touch with his inmate friends and send them anything they needed. There were popular magazines at the time based on known King Pins and Sandy would always send one of his friends that was serving time copies of the magazine. When his friend finished serving his time and returned home to Charlotte , Sandy noticed that his friend still had all the magazine issues that he would send him. From there that’s when Sandy learned that inmates enjoyed those class of magazines to stay informed or entertained. That’s when Gutta Magazine was born in 2005. At first , Gutta Magazine were stories based on federal inmates with real stories , the magazine was used for getting under the truth through awareness. Also, Gutta Magazine gave Sandy an opportunity to be apart of the biggest events in Charlotte so he added artist and models to the magazine as well. To get the stories about the inmates for Gutta Magazine , Sandy would write letters and make phone calls to the inmates to get their stories. Sandy reached out to ten inmates and six agreed to work with him. The first issue of Gutta Magazine that was printed was in 2009. Sandy printed ten thousand copies and went to big events and gave out his magazines. Eventually, the issue ended up in New York and got noticed by a distribution company in Harlem.Black Star Video distribution of Harlem was the first company to get Gutta Magazine in the prisons and have issues in the stores. Sandy is now rebranding Gutta Magazine for films and documentaries under his Hudson Urban Multimedia company. Sandy says anyone who has stayed consistent and true to their dreams is who inspires him. Sandy along with Gutta Magazine brand strives to have a clean face with everyone and the main focus is to build relationship and partnership .
