Known as “The Princess of Charleston,” Kris Kaylin has steadily built a name for herself in media and podcasting while proudly representing the Carolinas. Through years of dedication, interviews with major celebrities, and unwavering persistence, Kaylin continues to prove that her voice belongs in the conversation.
Her presence in media has not gone unnoticed. Influential figures like DJ Chuck T and Charlamagne tha God have publicly vouched for her talent and work ethic, helping solidify her reputation as a rising voice in the industry.
Kaylin’s journey into media began in 2016 while she was attending South Carolina State University. During her time there, she participated in a webinar series called Bulldog Bite, where she began sharpening her interviewing and hosting skills. That early experience laid the foundation for what would become a promising career in entertainment media.
After graduating, Kaylin launched the Charleston Summer Series, a platform designed to highlight and support local artists in the Charleston area. Her work quickly began attracting attention, and she soon found herself interviewing notable names. One of her standout early interviews was with actor Jharrel Jerome, who later went on to win an Primetime Emmy Award for his role in the Netflix series When They See Us.
Between 2018 and 2022, Kaylin worked in radio, further developing her voice and presence in broadcasting. However, her radio career came to an abrupt end due to an unfortunate situation that ultimately led to her being blackballed in her hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. Despite the setback and feeling unsupported in her own city, Kaylin refused to allow the experience to stop her momentum.
Throughout her career, she has interviewed several major figures in music and entertainment, including Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion, and Kehlani. Still, Kaylin says one of her favorite interviews was with Charlamagne tha God, someone she considers both a mentor and a supporter. The interview will soon be released on her current podcast.
Kaylin has even appeared as a special guest host on The Breakfast Club, a major milestone for any personality in the hip-hop media space.
Now stepping fully into her own lane, Kris Kaylin hosts her podcast The Princess Diaries, the first project where she stands completely on her own without a co-host. The show allows her to speak more openly about culture, entertainment, and her personal journey.
Looking ahead, Kaylin has ambitious goals. She hopes to one day place The Princess Diaries on a major podcast network and eventually launch her own syndicated show. Beyond that, she envisions creating her own media house—building a platform where podcasts and shows can thrive under her leadership and give other voices opportunities to be heard.
Despite obstacles and industry challenges, Kris Kaylin continues to push forward. Her story is one of resilience, ambition, and determination to carve out a lasting place in media while representing Charleston and the Carolinas with pride.
